Türkiye’s state energy firm, Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO), has made a strategic acquisition to further its energy independence goals. The company has purchased two advanced 7th-generation drillships, named Dorado and Draco, from Eldorado Drilling. These state-of-the-art rigs are designed to operate at depths of up to 12,000 feet, making them well-suited for deepwater exploration and drilling activities.
Arrival and Operational Timeline
The newly acquired drillships are scheduled to arrive in Türkiye within the next two months. Following their arrival, they will undergo a series of certifications to ensure they meet all operational and safety standards. TPAO anticipates that both Dorado and Draco will be fully operational by early 2026.
